What are you going to learn?

Course content

Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) presupposes that content-based knowledge is enhanced at the same time as the language skills needed to understand and conceptualise this content, through careful course design.

This course focuses on the development of lesson facilitation where the dual targets of content and language are being simultaneously developed. Modules in this training will focus on CLIL methodologies to enhance the quality of teaching and learning, on practical recommendations pf how to do that and recommendations on training your fellow educators.

The aim of this course is to enhance the pedagogical, cultural and linguistic competences of university teachers for teaching in the glocal medical classroom through a CLIL approach

You will be encouraged to adopt a reflective approach to teaching and learning through reflecting on issues related to teaching multilingual and multicultural learning spaces, while exchanging reflections and experiences within a community of practice.

The modules include:

  • Defining CLIL in multilingual and multicultural learning spaces;
  • Reflecting on the pedagogical implications of teaching and learning through English;
  • Identifying appropriate tools and strategies for active learning;
  • Designing learning outcomes for CLIL;
  • Assessing for learning in CLIL;
  • Creating spaces for training your fellow educators.

You will gain knowledge, skills and attitudes to teach effectively in the glocal classroom, which is a multicultural and multilingual learning space. As a result, you who teach international student cohorts will acquire techniques and methods to expand your teaching toolbox.
